The boats are very different for very different types of sailing.

The Goat Island Skiff is very much more comparable with dinghies like the 470 420 or Laser in terms of performance and the types of wind and sea that they can handle. You can expect to capsize sometimes too.

The GIS is less likely to capsize than the 470, Laser or 420 if the sail is reduced by reefing.

The Beg Miel is very much a small yacht. It is much heavier and bigger in every dimension except length and more complex to build as well as requiring much more building time.
There is a photo of it sailing in medium winds with one person aboard and the person aboard is very relaxed. It will feel slower and less exciting than the Goat Island Skiff but is probably quite a good sailor - a good average speed rather than a good top speed.

I think it is a decision on the type of sailing the person enjoys with the building complexity being of secondary importance.

Hi Michael, you should know that I made my decision, and I will start building the GIS. As far as I know, it will be the first one built in Hungary. Further more, I'm a Romanian living and working in Hungary and I guess it means that it will be also the first GIS made by a Romanian.
Tomorrow I'm going to buy the materials. The building process will be recorded on both forums, here and on Csaba's www.hajoepitok.hu forum.

Hi Michael.

It seems the spring is coming here. As always, I am building a new model, a footy class boat that has its origins not far from you, as the first RC footy was built in New Zealand.
