Situation: A deepening low to the north of New Zealand is expected near North Cape tonight with easterly winds strengthening over the region. Winds expected to ease late Saturday as the low moves south. On Monday, a southwest flow spreads over the area, followed by a ridge from Tuesday.

For the Manukau and Waitemata Harbours:
Today: Easterly 15 knots rising to 20 knots this evening, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots tonight. Slight sea becoming moderate this evening, and rough tonight. Fair visibility in rain developing this evening.
Tomorrow: Easterly 30 knots gusting 40 knots easing to northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the afternoon and to 20 knots late afternoon or evening. Rough sea becoming moderate in the afternoon. Poor visibility in rain, easing to showers with fair visibility in the evening.
For the Hauraki Gulf:
Today: Easterly rising to 20 knots this afternoon, to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the evening and to 35 knots gusting 45 knots but 40 knots gusting 55 knots north of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula tonight. Slight sea becoming moderate this afternoon, rough in the evening and very rough , in north tonight. Fair visibility in rain developing this evening.
Tomorrow: Easterly 35 knots gusting 45 knots but 40 knots gusting 55 knots north of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, easing to northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots everywhere late morning or early afternoon and to 20 knots in the evening. Rough sea, but very rough in the north until late morning, becoming moderate in the evening. Poor visibility in rain, easing to showers with fair visibility in the evening.
For Bream Head to Cape Colville:
Today: Easterly 20 knots rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots this evening, and to 40 knots gusting 55 knots tonight. Moderate sea becoming rough this evening and very rough tonight. Fair visibility in rain developing this evening, becoming poor in heavy falls tonight.
Tomorrow: Easterly 40 knots gusting 55 knots, turning northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots late morning or early afternoon and easing to 20 knots in the evening. Very rough sea becoming rough in the morning and moderate in the evening. Poor visibility in heavy rain at times, easing to showers with fair visibility in the evening.
